Preventative healthcare for continual well being
Maintaining a healthy body is a constant balancing act.

Posture, work, sleep, stress, diet, physical activity, lifestyle choices and ageing are all factors that impact on your body. An imbalance in these environmental factors can lead to tension, restriction of movement, pain and eventually degeneration of the body.
Regular osteopathic treatment will help to reduce pain and manage your condition. But prevention is better than cure. That's why, at bodyunity, we prescribe a long term prevention plan to address your unique body movement dysfunction and weaknesses. We help you to avoid imbalances developing in your body in the first place by educating you on:
- Posture
- General health
- Pain and dysfunction
- Home or gym-based exercises
- Workplace ergonomics
In cases where body imbalance is caused by environmental factors, it is a good idea to consider having check-ups with your osteopath every 4-12 weeks.
A fine-tuning for the whole body
Remember, you do not need to be in pain to benefit from a check-up by an osteopath. Good healthcare is about preventing conditions developing in the first place. Prevention is a team effort between patient and practitioner.
Bodyunity's approach to treatment
Osteopathic treatment aims to restore the normal equilibrium of the body that typifies good health. And we do not use one technique as a cure all. Your osteopath will select appropriate treatment from a wide range of options based on their analysis of your condition.
We use a broad range of treatment techniques, like:
Soft tissue manipulation (massage) involves gentle, sometimes firm, hands-on massage type techniques aimed at releasing tension and adhesions in tense or shortened muscles. Your bodyunity practitioner specialises in soft tissue techniques and will often use these along with others to treat your condition.
Joint manipulation involves a very small movement applied to a joint with minimum force and maximum accuracy. This often produces a "click". This technique aims to decrease pain and improve the quality of movement of stiff and painful joints.
Muscle contraction and stretching involves gentle muscle contractions and practitioner-applied stretches to help improve mobility and muscle control, induce muscle relaxation and decrease pain.
Joint mobilisation and articulation involves rhythmically moving a body region to improve blood flow, nerve supply and movement, and decrease pain.
Ultrasound therapy involves gently heating and massaging tissues using a very high frequency sound wave. Ultrasound therapy can also be used to apply topical therapeutic creams. This therapy helps to heal tendon, ligament and muscle injuries.
